2nd day in Banff. When we threw back the curtains the sun was shining. In true Vic and Jill fashion we were in our walking kit and out the door. We walked up to the base of Sulphur Mountain. It was hot and sticky work. So we took time out to have a dip in the hot mineral spring pool. It's basically a small outdoor pool. The air temperature was about 14 degrees but the pool water is 40 degrees. So we were laying in hot water with steam rising off it looking out over the mountains.....heaven or what?
Next stop the Banff Gondola ( a cable car to you and me). This took us to the top of Mount Sulphur. Lazy way up but hey we are on holiday. The views at the summit were amazing. Very few people up there so we were able to sit overlooking the valley and have our lunch. It seems we are at the end of the summer season and the next season doesnt kick off for a few weeks. So no crowds.
Once we were down we decided to head through the woods to the river. It was a beautiful hike with Pine Martens everywhere. Fortunately no bears !! All in all a fab day. Next stop, food and beer.
