Friday 26th Oct - Left Carnarvon this morning and headed down to the Shark Bay Region. On the way we stopped at Hamelin Pool and took a short walk through the historic site of the shell quarry. The shells are tightly compacted and used to be cut into blocks for buildings. We also walked along a boardwalk and looked at the Stromatolites in the water. We have had a couple of great days in Carnarvon. Tuesday 23rd - our first day, we went into town and had a look around and did the usual grocery shop! Wednesday 24th - we went up to One Mile Jetty and caught the Coffee Pot train up the length of the jetty. We left Cape Range NP and headed down to Coral Bay. This is a beautiful place but only small. Not much to do except swim, snorkel, fish and relax. We are staying here with two families we met at Cape Range which Gracie loves as she has someone to play with apart from us! Today we went on a snorkel boat trip and we saw some great fish and coral. We have just had 6 great days in Cape Range National Park. We camped at Kurrajong campsite with a family we met in Karijini NP and we met another family at the camp so Gracie had fun with the two boys, Ned and Noah. We did a couple walks to Yardie Creek Gorge and Mandu Mandu Gorge. Saw a couple of turtles in the creek and a few black footed rock wallabies. We snorkelled at Turquoise Bay in the drift and the bay. We have had a couple of restful days at Exmouth. Did a bit of grocery shopping for the coming week as we plan to be bush camping at Cape Range NP. We saw some turtles in the water near the SS Mildura wreck today and went for a snorkel in the water there. Had a look at the lighthouse and the tower that was used during WWII for defence.
