Tuesday 14th - Drove down through Tamworth and Gunnedah and headed for Coonabarabran. We have set up camp in the Warrumbungle National Park at Camp Blackman. It is a great camping area for vans which has both powered and unpowered sites. The amenities are great for a National Park and there is plenty of wildlife to see.
We made a fire again and this time Gracie roasted some marshmallows on a stick.
Wednesday 15th - After sleeping in our beanies last night, we went for a 6.2km return walk to Spirey View. At the end of the walk is a steep climb to some rocks and a great view of Belougery Spire and a rock formation called the Breadknife. Gracie did all of this walk on her own bar about 50 metres on Steve's shoulders.
This afternoon we went for a drive to siding Springs Observatory - the biggest telescope in Australia. It is a working observatory so unfortunately we couldn't go at night time but it is HUGE! Coonabarabran is apparently the best place for stars and the solar system and you can easily see why when you look into the night sky. It is packed full of stars and the Milky Way can be easliy seen.
