Left the hostel early morning to go to the bus station to find a bus to Iquique our next and final destination in Chile. Managed to get seats on the next bus leaving town for 10 pounds each (bargain!) Set off on our 6 hour journey on time on a tarmac road, so we were both feeling positive. However the tarmac soon ended and we joined a dirt track road through the desert (great fun in a 52 seater!) We had not planned on visiting Chile but found cheap flights going to Tahiti so decided to give it a go. We had a little chat on the bus about our limited knowledge on the country and we came up with: it has the biggest desert in the world, has every climate from artic to desert, some miners were stuck underground for a very long time and Nick's contribution - they have 3 Komatsu PC8000s (you won't find that on google!) Checked into our hostel and went to the supermarket to get some food. It was absolutely wonderful they had soy sauce, jalapeno poppers, mayonaisse and loads of other english food so we went berserk!
