Woke up at 0735!!! Thought I was going to have a lay-in after yesterday's full day out! Left Auckland feeling hungover! Finishing off all the alcohol seemed like a good idea at the time; 8 hours later we arrived in Perth, 40c and no breeze. Fox Glacier was a total washout, walked along the torrent river in hope to get to the Glaciers but after a km we gave up and turned back as it was getting dangerous and the last thing we wanted was to be cut off or slip. Drove off to Lake Matterson which is the famous reflection lake but it's was so misty and the cloud was wrapped around the mountains; we didn't even get out the van. My favourite drive so far; Christchurch to Glentanner. A spacious not too many twists and turns and most of all, very picturesque. The campsite was next to Lake Pukaki which when the sun shone it was a beautiful turquoise. Also the helicopters and small tourist plane was based there.
