Grand Tour
There are even more and higher buildings here than in our days here...they march up the Peak like an invading army, covering every square inch they possibly can. Some buildings are so thin they look distinctly unstable, and my resident expert engineer husband tells me they'd sway in the wind...I'm not sure I'd be entirely happy with that! We visited another batch of old haunts today, a trip across the harbour on the Star Ferry and a bus ride down to Stanley Market...all very familiar and yet now very different. Still having fun!!

Rosemary Gosh; it does seem a long time ago we were writing to each other air letters. How exciting to be back and see all the changes. I remember being on the 20th floor of a block in Leeds swaying in the wind and not liking it. I'm definitely a ground level creature so H K wouldn't be the place for me. I have a photo of you two young things with Val scoring at the cricket ground - if you see what you mean! How's the cantonese? Rebekah and Tom are 'safe in paradise' island hopping in the Philippines, swimming with sea turtles and 100s of coloured fish! What exciting times for you all. Lots of love, xx
pat Well, I used to worry when you were on the 9th floor and 9 months pregnant - and leaning out of your window to p ut out your washing - so i guess it would be worse now!!
Val Yes I remember all those air letters! Like writing on toilet paper... and I'd forgotten having to lean out of the window to hang out the washing, mum! Glad Rebekah and Tom are on their own adventure. How's the house?!
Rosemary Shirley The house is great, we like it still. Thankfully with the garage and 3rd bedroom we can have a semblance of sanity in the living room, kitchen and our room. Spent a difficult but ultimately successful afternoon finding a GP practice where we felt welcome and not a problem. I know we pose a challenge but...! Well third time lucky. Yesterday we had to find a locksmith as we managed to lock ourselves out by leaving a key on the inside. Expensive business but we have a new lock with which the same problem is impossible. I've been struggling with the ME fatigue. It isn't surprising but frustrating and a little worrying being so reliant on Bryan and with little resource to socialise and meet people. But this is bound to improve. There are crocuses and a white camellia about to flower in the garden, which is a pleasant outlook from our living room. Very peaceful and relaxing. A very different place to Hong Kong. Enjoy to the full these last days of you wonderful adventure. What an extraordinary time you've had. Godspeed on your journey home. Rxx
