Now in the Western region on the way to Al Sila, in the next day or two, on my way to my new school! There are many new cultural moments I had encountered, first with trees rooted in sand, not seen in the states ( maybe florida but not over long distances!), second, only one flower has a pleasant aroma, other flowers seen have no fragrance, first hand experience. Third, the Rotana and Danat hotels look like enlarged glamorous hollywood sets with marble, glass, track lights, constant attendance from hotel employees seems too good to be true. Fourth, the color of the sea is just like in the picture postcards, I am breathless! When tree leaves sway, I thnk oh a nice cool ocean breeze, NOT true, constant warm breeze where you can walk around dressed in bare minimum clothes. Oh, the trees are more brown than green. This adds up to ecentric accesories into the hotel desert oasis. I am the foreigner, though hired as the teacher, never leaves my mind.
