Arrived in Phuket on time and got some nice pictures from the plane as we approached Phuket Island.

Met our airport pickup and were driven to Patong and our hotel, Amari Coral Beach Resort. We checked in and were walked to our room which was a fair way from the reception building and overlooked the sea with views around to Patong Beach.

After settling in we walked down to Patong Beach (a 5-10 minute walk downhill) and decided to check out the shops. I had been to Patong a couple of months before the tsunami so it was interesting to see the changes that have occurred since then. Expecially the road running alongside the beach changing to a one-way street making tuk-tuk rides back to the hotel more expensive!

After looking around for a while we took a tuk-tuk back to the hotel. We went back to Patong for dinner later that evening.

On returning to the hotel we spoke to another couple who were swimming in the pool near our room after the pool had apparently closed. We decided to have a swim too before going to bed for the night.
