Today we went on our around island tour. Had to get up early and had breakfast at 5.30am. First stop was a lookout over Waimea Valley. Going up into the mountains the weather changed from hot and sunny to wet and cool. Great views over the valley. We then went to the Dole Plantation which grew pineapples and coffee. On Tuesday we hiked to the top of Diamond Head, on extinct volcano at the other end of Waikiki. We caught a bus down to the crater then walked across the crater and up to the lookout at the highest point of the crater wall. Very, hot, no shade and a very steep climb. It took us almost an hour to reach the top but worth it in the end with views over Waikiki and beyond. Much easier walking down but we did have the first injury of the trip. This morning we went on a submarine tour out from Waikiki. The boat out to the submarine departed from the pier out the front of our hotel.We went on a boat out for 10 minutes then transferred over to the submarine for a 45 minute tour. There are 5 artificial reefs one was an old airplane and two of the others were scuttled ships. Arrived at the airport and made our way down to the Jetstar check in counter. The line was long and our flight was not even listed on the screens but we queued up anyway. We arrived in Hawaii on Sunday morning Hawaii time. Left Melbourne on Sunday afternoon so got to have Sunday 26th twice.
