Got up at 7am and had breakfast at the hotel before getting our day packs ready and heading down to reception for our pick up for our trip to Kuala Gandah's Deer Park and Elephant Sanctuary.
We were picked up at 9am and began the drive across to the east coast. Stopped for a break about halfway through the two hour trip before arriving at the deer park.
Our first stop was the deer enclosure and I was asked to feed the deer with some pieces of pineapple. It was a stampede and I managed to feed them in between being clibmed all over and bitten on the arse as they all tried to get my attention. As it had rained and flooded there recently I was quickly covered in mud. I had been told to bring a change of shirt for the elephant sanctuary but was not told I should wear an old shirt here.
We then moved on to the sugar gliders and got to handle a baby sugar glider which we named Ben. We then saw some quails and rabbits before reaching the sun bear enclosure. We got to go into the enclosure and feed the bear some condesed milk which was great. Even had the bear take a biscuit from my mouth!
The last stop was the monkey which was insane. My shirt was kille dfurther with the monkey eating honey and trampling all over me. Good fun.
Had a quick wash under the tap and then dried off and got into the car to visit an aboriginal community. Spent about 20 minutes in the village speaking to a Malay woman who works there and had a go at firing some blow darts at a target board.
Moved on to the Elephant Sanctuary. Walked through the museum and information boards on elephants and then had lunch at the sanctuary. Our guide took us down to where the adult elephants were kept and we fed them some peanuts until the elephant bathing and feeding began.
The baby elephants all filed into the river and people got to go in and wash the elephants. After they were done the adult elephants were ridden into the river for their wash. They then went to be hosed off and we got to feed them fruit.
The last part saw the baby elephants wander around amongst the people and we could feed them peanuts.
Had a shower and changed then headed back to KL by car getting back about 6pm. Fantastic day and recommended if anyone is in KL for a few days!
Had a quick dinner at KL Sentral station and then back to the hotel for sleep.
