Day 2 in Seville and no plans and I'm looking forward to it. Big day need to get tire fixed and have no idea how long it will take to get to the place I need to go...Willy's LOL. So get up a bit early and hit the road traveling light. Dang it if I don't fing the place in like 15 minutes...what are the odds. Off course I'm early so I go next door and have a coffee and wait it out.
Well they show up at 9 and pull me bike in and they all know me it seems..the Canadian they call me. they commence to ripping the tire off and got to say good thing I went to the shop as the back tire is held on with 5 screws....so they don't need a lot of torque...well whoever put it on last over torgued the crap outta it... took em a half an hour to get 3 screws out. The tire was swapped for a new one...they topped up the oils washed the windscreen and kicked m out the door...total time about an hour due to the screw problem...awesome. Twisty roads with no fear now LOL. Metzlers...still like me michelins better me thinks...I had the tires slip out on corners a few times so confidence lil shaky in a tight corner.
Where o where should I gooooo......I decided to just head towards the cathedral as it is near everything……old…I think. So I wandered about and parked right near where I had the day before. Figured I would find a decent breakfast around here.
Sure enough…Iberion ham n eggs LOL. So I order some up and they don’t disappoint me at all. It’s a great day to be outside. The place I found is across from the Cathedral and its great to just watch people come and go…..
Across from the Cathedral is Alcazara….it’s the home of the various Kings….and is open for tourists. So after sitting for a bit I decide to check It out the books say its worth it. 8 euro and I’m in. I decided to just wander in it…holy crapp its huge….but bike boots….marble floors and a ton of walking not a great combo. It is hard to describe this place. It has different areas…gardens…sitting rooms….alcoves….orchards (yup tons of oranges)…fish ponds…reception halls….halls cause I’m the king and can build a hall halls….sooooo much history. Tapestries on the walls..the ceilings are crazy ornate. Everything has a story and goes way back a thousand years easy.
In the end….can easily sum it up I guess…its good to be the King! I managed to avoid all the crowds just walking on me own. Mosty French tourists it would seem so gave em a wide berth. If there gaggle went one way..I went the other…it worked…did not get annoyed by one French person.
I took a ton of pics…and this is the first time I am using just a phone for pics….must say it is not disappointing me at all. Those who have iphones if you don’t know what the HDR setting is for…just turn it on and you will see. It really is a neat feature to give a great picture. Lot easier to pack it then an SLR.
I spent a few hours in there and ended up sort of lost in the various gardens…and it was hot out…so I would just find a different garden and have a sit for a bit to take it in. Very peaceful you could not tell you were in the middle of a bustling city at all. But enough was time to get something to cool me off and it seemed like a good time to bail.
Off I wandered and found a great lil café for a beer and whatever the waiter thought was good. He came back with some kinda wild torte / cake. Was great. Right about here a nice lil ole guy wants to polish me boots….insistent lil guy won’t take no for an answer. So I look at em and heck they do look a lil rough so I say sure….he pulls out his foot rest….I put me boot on it…pull up me pant leg and he sees the rest of the boot. These are tall boots…lol….he didn’t expect it. Se we chuckled and again great opportunity to practice the Spanish. I think he had 4 teeth. Nice guy took his time….and then presented me with the bill….29 Euro…I laughed….he was again quite insistent….sheesh talk about robbery…then the story of the 5 kids came out…so in the end for peace and quiet I paid him and off he went. Most expensive shine I’ve ever had…….
With no plan just got up and wandered ….. lots of cool stuff to see. The history is amazing. So not like home….but the boots are taking a toll on me feet so I decide to wander around on the bike now. So I find it…hop on and just drive around up n down the lil side streets….so cool. If you had a typical Alberta truck or suv…..you’d be hooped. The day wore me down….to the hotel I went.
Took 5….and put on street cloths and shoes I just went for a wander….found the main square and it was hopping. Families all about and people everywhere…..even break dancers lol. Found a cool statue…ordered a drink and sat around observing. Doesn’t sound too interesting but it was…..I managed to get fairly lost finding this place and hungry…soooo tapa bar time.
You’ll never die of hunger here there is a bar or café on every corner. So I ended up having some kind of beef and ham and potatoe thing that was really tasty. Sat back burped and ordered a Ron negro…keep forgetting how they pour here….I think its the 4 count rule. Makes for a big drink….I wandered back eventually to the hotel took a while ….. sort of a flight of the bumble bee thing but I did find it…that amazed me…especially when half tanked…..
Big day tomorrow…not sure exactly where I’m going but deep into Andalucia….south…..soooooo nap time.
