The Waltons On Tour
We just had another bus journey from hell - well I did! We were supposed to leave at 3.30PM and arrive at 6AM but instead we left at 7PM and arrived at 1PM, we also managed to break down for an hour in the middle of no where. Additionally, the window behind me wouldnt close so when we drove through a massive storm myself and my seat got soaked and I also had some sort of oil stuff dripping on me at random times. I was not a happy bunny and had a major "episode" at Craig when we finally arrived at our hostel :-? Despite that we have found Sucre to be a quaint old city, quite like Santa Cruz although it is the "official" capital, not that youd know. We have spent most of our time either sleeping, eating or (yesterday) trying to catch our breath. We are 2500 metres above sea-level, not that high compared to the places we are going to go to, but it was still a little strange at first. I slept nearly solidly for 14 hours and Craig woke a little short of breath. We went on a Dino Trek today to visit the worlds largest paleontological site (why have we never heard of this before!?). It is a part of a mountain which was once flat and before that a large lake, which has become vertical due to the Earths plates coming together. It contains the most dinosaur footprints on Earth (over 5000) and bizaarly it was only discovered 10 years ago! We saw loads of different footprints from various dinosaurs. All in all it was unboliviable!! We have heard from a (reliable?) source that to celebrate 25 years of the Real Ale guide all real ales are 65p in the UK. Well we didnt want to miss out so we are heading out tonight for our own 50p beer and 75p cocktails!! Tomorrow we have another long journey to Uyuni to visit the salt flats, lets hope its not like that last one! I forgot to say, it is rather cold here. We had a bit of a shock coming from 35 degree Santa Cruz to 17 degree Sucre! Gone are the flip flops and shorts , instead its coats and scarves!
