The Waltons On Tour
We are currently sitting on the second floor of a building in an internet cafe in the worlds highest city baby yeah!! 4200M + being on the second floor equals really really high!
We got the bus here and then had a 6 hour wait until our next bus, low on cash and not a clue if they had any cash machines, they dont in the next few places were going to so we have to stock up on money. There are some amazing views but that didn't really help our panicked arrival. Here we are though, we got a taxi to the centre and enojoyed a massive steak lunch, we went for the small option after being advised not to eat too much at altitude but it was bigger than a cow and tastier than Stoke's best cuisine! Oh and not to mention it cost 20Bol, which is 1.25 or so, spectacular!
There was a bit of a bad day on Saturday, which is when we had planned on leaving but I picked up a nasty stomach bug and was violently sick all morning and unable to move so we had to stay another day in Sucre, Sarah enjoyed being able to laze around all day while I was close to death! Just about recovered enough to go and eat at night, so I guess it wasn't so bad! The bonus of staying for another day was that there was a massive party in Sucre, with traditional dress, loads of bangin' tunes from the many bands that walked around and thousands of people dancing in parade style, they don't make um like this back home, I kid you not!
Sarah got really drunk the other night and made a complete mess of our written travel journal, but I think I was in a worse condition as I kept on drinking her cocktails and started drinking at lunchtime with a jug of beer...to make the most of how cheap it was, I felt like it was my duty! Possibly the best part of the night, apart from a blazing row we had for 10mins about gambling was a band of blokes with guitars, triangles and everything walking into a bar and started playing and singing / chanting, they were better than your average band you see in the Talbot(or better than the average DJ in the Embers!)
A 7 hour drive to Uyuni through the mountains (yet again..) awaits us but the amazing Salt Flats are a big enough incentive to tackle another bus journey!
If we fall off the side of a mountain (highly likely they way they drive around here) then Tim, the cd's are yours. Sarah won't comment as she doesn't want to tempt fate, here goes!
