The long anticipated and talked about Gisborne Food & Wine Festival had arrived and the sun was blazing, unpredictably so. We made an early break to get there in order to bag our seats in prime position, this was successfully achieved by the girls directing the boys to drag a picnic table across the festival to the centre, in amongst the wine merchants and with a clear view of the stage. We had an initial conservative approach, we each carefully chose our vendors and discussed the wines that we had purchased. We even had the good sense to all purchase the same straw hat for sun protection and to get some much needed meat and cheese to line our stomachs.
Needless to say, shortly after the hat and meat purchase, the wine consumption somewhat spiralled and before we knew it we were staggering around the venue attempting intellectual conversations with the vendors about their wine whilst devouring their free cheese and hoping they weren't noticing. After being directed by Lauren to obtain 'more cheese', Sean returned with a fistful of blue, which was promptly consumed from the bare wooden table. Greg took Tony off on an adventure to investigate the giant scrabble set, to his dismay after spelling out a naughty word, he realised his consultant had set up picnic right next to the scrabble arena. Fortunately she was more inebriated than he at this stage and found the situation hilarious, insisting they left the word as it stood so that her husband could view it on return from obtaining more wine.
Any good party leads to dancing, and this was no exception, with the local live music on show, it was Claire's time to shine. Most at home will be familiar with our prowess on the dance floor, especially after a few glasses of wine. However, our friends here were somewhat surprised by the show, more so was one of Claire's consultants when she spun round to find him in the same boogie circle. Greg's hips as always were complemented on their movement. Needless to say it was an early night had by Claire (and therefore Greg), with the highlight being Claire waking up at 22:45 and saying 'oh my goodness, what happened yesterday?' to which Greg replied in disgust 'IT IS yesterday!'.
