Hi Family - today was a day of driving. We needed to moor the ship in a French Provincial town called Akaroa as the port of Christchurch silted up as a result of 11/12 earthquakes. To get to Chritchurch it was a tender boat from the ship to the shore and then a big tourist bus and a 90 minute drive to Christchurch which is a beautiful city but very sad. Many of the historic buildings have been demolished due to the damage caused by the quakes. However they are rebuilding and will be there for another day . We rushed through the Botanical Gardens which were truly beautiful and then onto the Antartic Centre - baby blue penguins, the artic experience of snow and gale force winds and back on the bus, tender and ship. Comedy night and then bed.
Talk soon but I am going to be late for dinner so have to rush.
Love to all
The Two Cruisers.
