Morning started in Rudesheim with an original Irish Coffee-brandy, coffee,cream.....that will wake you up! Then we enjoyed a wine tasting at the Rottland Winery where we were entertained by the wine grower & sampled Reisling. Shopped a darling little street then back to riverboat for site seeing of the beautiful Rhine Valley on the sun deck to Koblenz.

After brunch on board the MS Amacello, we arrive in Speyer-one of Germany's oldest cities. Our walking tour included Speyer's old town, churches, & the Altportel-a 13 century gate tower. The Speyer Cathedral, the largest & most important Romanesque church in Europe. The Dom was completed in 1111. The simple design can hold 12,000 people standing. Woke up this morning in the enchanting town of Strasbourg where we toured The European Union Parliament and the Orangerie-the town's oldest park. Also toured "La Petite France" Strasboug's prettiest narrow cobbled streets & rode a canal boat around the Grande Ile. Our tour ended at the famous Cathedral de Notre Dame & the famous astronomical clock from the 1500s. The evening ended with Dale entertaining the group with his keyboard talents. Charming day!

Walking tour & wine tasting in Colmar, France. Traveled to medieval Colmar, situated along the Alsatian Wine Route. The town is notable as the home of Frederic Bartholdi, the sculptor who designed the Statue of Liberty. Along with the Gothic architecture we saw storks perched high on a building. Also visited a wine cellar for a taste of locally produced Pinot Blanc, Riesling & Gewürztraminer wines....refreshing!

Early morning started with a tour of The Lion Monument in Lucerne. Mark Twain described The Lion monument as "the most mournful & moving piece of stone in the world." It was built as a tribute to the mercenarys who fought for Switzerland. On to Basel (Switzerland's second largest city)where we visited the Basel Munster cathedral & enjoyed a picnic -sandwiches, fresh fruits & cheeses from the Fischmarkt.
