After an unexpected encounter with a pickpocket (don't come between me & my iPhone) last night, we got off to a perfect morning walking in Lucerne-city of light. Beautiful Lucerne, Switzerland. Situated where the Reusse River flows into Lake Lucerne. Our favorite city. Small cobblestone streets, squares with fountains and frescoed buildings typify Lucerne. Easily the symbol of the city, the Chapel Bridge is a medieval covered bridge & is one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe. Zurich day 2 started with a guided walking tour of old town including the St. Peter's church with the largest clock face in the world & followed by a trip to the Rhine Falls. The Falls are the most impressive waterfalls in Europe. We also toured the small village of Stein am Rhine which is considered the best preserved medieval small town in the German-speaking world. The buildings are painted with beautiful frescos, & there are quaint shops & gelato....

We have arrived! Looong plane ride but so amazing when you view the countryside approaching Zurich. We are staying at the Hotel Continental in downtown Zurich. A quaint hotel with a very small elevator called a lift. Europeans encourage the stairs! All 8 couples walked to dinner at Restaurant Zeughauskeller were we enjoyed ham, sauerkraut, & Rosti potatoes (similar to hash browns).
