After brunch on board the MS Amacello, we arrive in Speyer-one of Germany's oldest cities. Our walking tour included Speyer's old town, churches, & the Altportel-a 13 century gate tower. The Speyer Cathedral, the largest & most important Romanesque church in Europe. The Dom was completed in 1111. The simple design can hold 12,000 people standing. We visited the Technik Museum which featured exhibits of vintage cars, military aircraft, a 747, and a even a submarine!
