Day 7
I am Frodo
Crazy weather they have in NZ. I woke up once again to a sunny warm day, but after about 1 hour of riding, this HUGE dark grey thing in the sky loomed over my head and pushed all the blue away in the sky, leaving a dark canopy of doom!
I got rained on, but only for about 30 mins, then it cleared again to blue skies with some clouds. weird. It got a bit chilly today, but then when I arrived at Lake Taupo, it got warmer, then hot, then really hot. weird.
When I ride all through NZ, I honestly can't help but think of Frodo and the whole LOTR movies. I realy need to re-watch them when I get back to the states.
I don't have much to write about today. The ride was rather dull. Nothing new to report. I do wish I had my guitar with me as I started to write a new song today. Kind of woke up with a tune in my head, and started writing all throughout the day. Not easy to do on a motorbike, but glad I could pull over from time to time and jot down song ideas into my notebook.
Tomorrow looks like a cloudy rainy day. Which really sux. I dont mind riding in the rain, but it takes A LOT of the fun out of the journey, and puts a good stop to pulling over to take awesome pics. Which btw, I took none today.
Lake Taupo is pretty cool, and it seems there are tons to do here if you managed to stay for a few days. Bungie jumping, cave exploring, white water rafting, kayaking, skydiving, there are even tours through caves by these small boats where you can see these glow-worms that light up the caves.
Tomorrow We ride SW towards Mt. Doom (I think) and then to Wellington. which is the southern most city in the North island, then friday we take a 3 hour ferry to the South island. HOPEFULLY not in rain.
another 200-ish miles today. A cakewalk.
peace
