Wills and James Road Trip
Day Twenty-eight 11.4.05
Today we took a drive to A Guarda and then onto Tui and then back to the site.
On the way we saw a market happening at Baiona and decided to stop and have a look. It was along the entire length of the high street which must have been half a mile. The stalls, with the exception of a few, were all selling clothes. They were all a bit dull and they were all selling the same dull stuff.
We did find a stall selling novelty bread and huge pies. Feeling brave we waited for our turn which didn't seem to come until a kind man advised the lady that we were next. We chose half a pie with a brown filling and half another with a creamy coloured filling. The lady asked us something in Spanish and we both looked at each other. The kind man said 'Si' to the lady and she proceeded to slice up the pie. We didn't want it sliced but we didn't complain. She then gesticulated to see if we were together, we nodded and she put two complementary croissants in the bag. What a nice lady. So much for Will's plan to eat fruit all day until our evening meal.
Having seen all the market could offer we set off again. Shortly after we stopped by the sea side and sampled our pies. What we thought was one chicken and one beef turned out to be one fish and one squid in its own ink. They were both very tasty though but I think there may be some leftovers. We were a bit lazy as we didn't bother stopping again and came back to read and sunbathe. We had also bought a huge crate of strawberries to munch on until dinner. Size isn't everything when it comes to strawberries.
Whilst I write I can see four magpies scratching about near the van, what could it mean? I know magpies like shiny things for their nests and the van is very clean but surely not. I wonder if I can put them off the van by giving them some fish pie?
Will is a bit frustrated that James is enjoying his book that Sophie and James gave him (Cloud Atlas) so has decided to go for a run on the beach, James declined his kind invitation to join him. Too much to do preparing a salad for the lovely pies and reading the next chapter.
