hey everyone. hope all is well. we are still having a great time in new zealand. we are currently in franz josef which is right by the southern alps and the town revolves around the fact that there is a monster glacier coming down the valley. which is so cool. yesterday we did an 8 hour hike over the glacier and it was amazing. didn't quite realise it would be so uneven it was great fun trying to climb through cracks and up over huge towering blocks of ice. tris got completely stuck in one of the cracks and law didn't laugh at all ( honest!) but had to try and pull him out. he got there in the end. we also had to climb through a tunnel which was scary as hell as there wasn't too much to hold onto the pictures are great can't wait to put them on internet.

well just a quick update of what else we've been up to. we went to a crazy fancy dress party and as we said tris dressed up as a table which was so funny as everyone wanted a photo so he had to crawl around on his hands and knees most of the night!! heh he we got totally sloshed partied until the early hours and danced like crazy with our friends maryn and mathaus. great fun. untill the hangover the next day. we were so rough tris was almost sick on the bus ( he reckons it was the driving...cough cough) so he had to sit up front in the sick seat. didn't help too much that our driver took us to this crazy resturant for brekkie which basically sold road kill pies. headlight delight as they liked to call it. yukky. and they had a pet wild boar that tried to eat one of the fellow passengers!! (yum wild boar tastes good)

we also stopped of at a place called punakaiki which is famous for it's pancake rocks and blow holes. we stopped at a beautiful hostel right on the sea front (in a funky trailer) and we spent our days watching the 30 ft waves come crashing in. some would even shake the ground beneath us. the pancake rocks were cool (have to see the photos really) and also the blow holes which spurted water up in the air. we loved it so much we kept going around and around the walk. and even went the next day!! and the next! we also walked the trauman track and got completely soaked as it rains so much here. saw a waterfall which goes onto the beach. we have also driven along one of the top 10 roads in the world......and it was so misty we couldn't see the car in front let alone the scenry. we didn't even know the southern alps were behind us until someone mentioned it!

phew so another crazy few days. today we were ment to be going kayaking but the weather is rubbish so i think we'll try again tommorrow. we are here in franz josef until sunday and then we are off to wanaka and then queenstown. so speak to you all soon. take care love laura and tris x x x x
