After a couple beers on the deck and listening to the repairs being done on the chalet next door (been interesting this resort, with the repairs at night and the chainsaws!) a decent sleep and we woke to rain. Dammit thought the cable car wasn't going to happen but turned out was just a quick one so headed down at opening time hoping to get up there early.
Well turns out a Princess Cruise ship had docked and there were people everywhere! I think we were lucky as we managed to beat most of the groups from the ship but definitely something to keep in mind as we certainly didn't know cruise ships stopped there but it makes complete sense as it is a duty free island. Got talking to a lovely couple (from Adelaide go figure) and the wait went quickly and yet again Amelia decided having a nap was a great idea just before we got on the cable car. She slept through the entire trip!!
Wow is it high. You go up in these small pods which fit 6 people suspended from a heavy wire. Surprisingly smooth. Views are pretty awesome. We were lucky as it had cleared up and we could see a very long way. Got to see the seven waterfalls from above, quite spectacular.
A nice trip down with new people (hilariously again from Adelaide and Perth) and found they were heading to Singapore and then Cambodia. Although a cruise isn't our thing they were definitely enjoying it and it seems to be a good way to see Asia that's for sure.
Wandered over the bridge to the fish feeding. Wow haven't seen that many koi ever. Surprised how quickly they came to the surface considering how much they must get fed. We didn't bout cost 1RG per small bag of food, so about 30c.
A spot of quick shopping and bought some, as Phil puts it, holiday Malaysia 'comfy' (fat) pants (kind of traditional patchwork very loose pants) and back to the resort to pack up. Passed by the horse and cart area on the way out. As usual Amelia has taken interest, geez does she love animals. After a quick look we headed back.
We decided to head down for lunch at the pool deck bar but unfortunately they hadn't set the menu yet (it was 11:45am so a little strange as apparently they start at 11am serving food) so decided to go to the beach.
A few waves then one put Amelia on her bum. She loved it. We realised it was only the second time she had been to the beach. The last one in Fiji when she was only 9 months old so probably didn't remember. Apparently sand is tasty too :)
Back to pack up and then headed in for some bar snacks before heading to the airport. Quick and easy flight to KL and checked into Sama Sama airport hotel located in the international terminal.
Off for a final Roti Canai and an attempt at some duty free shopping but turned out when we worked the exchange rate the prices were the same and in some cases much more expensive than we could get at home. We did notice Langkawi duty free was substantially cheaper.
Now certainly not on par with Singapore's airport hotel (that place is amazing) but certainly good and gave us a good chance to get Amelia to sleep before our flight at 10:20pm.
Only real complaint was that it wasn't well soundproofed as far as connecting rooms and the doors shutting was really loud, but the beds were comfy and their service was amazing. We hadn't previously requested a cot but it was no trouble upon booking in and there within a few minutes of us getting to our room.
Glad to say Amelia slept pretty much the entire trip home, she is truly an awesome traveller, hope it stays that way. Big shout out to our air steward Cze Jinn, he was awesome and hilarious. Nothing was too much trouble and did it with a big smile and a laugh. Malaysia Airlines you need to keep him.
Well now we are home and can't believe it's over.
Wouldn't recommend the Berjaya Langkawi Resort unless you are really just after a resort experience. If you are booking it to be in the rainforest, a little separated from others and want to see wildlife (as they advertise, incorrectly it seems) this isnt the place for you. Very heavily orientated towards tourists from the Middle East, and their customer service could be improved.
All in all a good trial run with our munchkin though and the spectacled monkeys were gorgeous.
