Well, it took slightly longer than expected to get back to Argentina! The train from Uyuni was full so we had to stay the night there and took a jeep to a random town at 4.30am where we were off loaded and waited for a bus for 4 hours which took us to Tupiza. Then we waited a few more hours and caught the evening bus to Villazon on the Bolivia-Argentina border where we spent the night. Then up early and it took over an hour to get through the border and we only just made the 8 hour bus ride to Salta. Blimey, what a mission!!
Salta was lovely and we made the most of being back in Argentina with a delicious bottle of red and good food. The hostel had a bar too so made the most of that! The next day, we did some cd shopping and took the cable car up the mountain to see the view. It was a beautiful day, really warm and sunny. Said goodbye to Bram at 3.30pm and caught the bus to Mendoza. Thank god for nice buses in Argentina as 18 hours on a rubbish one would have been hell!! We had movies and a delicious supper on board as well as wine and champagne. The huge seats ensured that I actually managed to sleep!
Arrived in Mendoza at about 9.30am and after checking in I had a wander and some lunch. It seems like a really lovely city, lots of shady cafes to people watch from and excellent coffee!! Am going on the Wine Tour this afternoon and hoping to do some horse riding tomorrow in the mountains. Can´t wait to see Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas at just under 7,000m.
Photos to come. Just don`t seem to have had time to upload them all! Have a lot to upload now. Time is flying...... only 4 days left!! xxx
