Saz's Canadian Odyssey
Hola Amigos!!
Well its been a busy few days here in Bs As and i've loved it. Besides it being smelly, smoggy and noisy, I definitely want to come back here sometime in the future.
On Sunday, Sharon and I went to the antiques market in San Telmo. Amazing place with so many bits and bobs from silver cutlery to gramaphones to ancient revolvers! Fascinating market. Then we joined a bus load of others from the hostel and went to the footy - but of course in Argentina!! We watched Bs As team River Plate - currently 2nd in the league and very popular - play Colon who were supposed to be the underdogs. We were in the 'more expensive' seats so that we were saved from being mugged etc from the hoardes of crazy fans - amazing atmosphere! Anyway, River Plate scored in the first half but played rubbish in the 2nd and conceded a goal - so many unhappy argentinians!!
Monday was a constructive day when I booked my bus ticket and ferry ticket to Uraguay. I also did the police report for my stolen camera which took about an hour and a half and I even got a ride in a police car with the lights flashing - most exciting!
Yesterday, Tuesday, I took the 3 hour ferry ride over to Colonia in Uraguay. Its a really quaint little village with cobbled streets and sweet little shops. It was great to be in the peace and quiet for a while and breathe in some clean air after Bs As!! Got back at about 10.30 last night and hooked up with about 8 others and went straight out to dinner for another delish steak, back to the hostel for a couple of drinks, then out to a random club. Things start so late here. People don't eat till 11pm and wouldn't even dream of going near a club till at least 2am! Consequently we got home at 6am and I didn't feel too hot this morning - they're very generous with their vodka measures!!
Today I bought a new camera which was pretty exciting! There won't be anywhere else to buy one along the way so i'll be holding onto this one with both hands and watching it at all times!! My bus for Iguassu leaves at 7pm tonight. It takes about 24 hours but apparently its pretty smart with food, drinks and dvds provided and seats that go all the way back! So it should be a hell of a lot better than the buses were in Asia eh!!
xx
ps. amendment to previous entry - didn't have time to read through what i'd written till today. The porn is not in the hostel but we can hear it in our room from the adult cinema next door! Don't worry Ma, its not THAT sort of hotel!
