When you fly Ryanair for the cheap prices, you have to take what you can get.
Getting up at 2.30am to get first to the airport bus stop, take the bus and then get to the airport for a 6.00am flight, really has k*** on it but keeping travel costs down is paramount.
Arriving into Edinburgh we caught the airport bus to the city centre and walked to our hostel - all before 9.00am.
The bad news of course was we couldn't have our room until 3pm, We were, however ,able to leave our packs and so went out to see the castle and various other Edinburgh attractions. Edinburgh is so hilly so it was up and down all day until 3pm check-in time. We were given the news that we were in fact going to be housed at another location at least a kilometre away and uphill. It was a better suited accommodation for us anyway - a student house not in use as it was summer holidays with a communal kitchen and 4 bedrooms which weren't all in use so for most of the time we had the kitchen to our selves.
The following day we climbed "Arthur's Seat" a set of peaks right close to the city. Very strenuous, windy and cold but the view was rewarding.
