We arrived in Nice at about 4.30 pm and were able to secure a room to ourselves with toilet and shower, oh heaven! Dumping our stuff in the room we headed for the tourist office which was practically across the street. We were able to sort out all the info for flying back to Paris and how to catch the train to Monaco, Cannes and into the country to Puget-Theniers. Then it was back to the room to shower and tidy up and then off to a near by bar for dinner with the busabout crew and a sad goodbye to Stewart who we had scored as our driver for most of the trip.
Thursday was a catch up day, had a lovely sleep in and a leisurely breakfast then caught up the washing at a nearby laundromat. We then went walking, lots of walking, first to the airport Ibis to inquire about cost and availability for last night in France on Sunday and then to Airfrance to pay for the flights Heather had phone booked. Then it was a stroll along the promenade to checkout the sights before walking to the second railway station so that we would know where to go for our country jaunt on Saturday. Still going, we then walked back to the Ibis to book in for Sunday night, finally happy with our days work we stopped at a little pizzeria for dinner and some beers.
On Friday the 3rd we took the train to Cannes at a cost of 64 French Francs (9.76 Eur) for each with return. We had a good look around Cannes shops and the beach but did not see anyone of note and did not get discovered to appear in the next block buster movie. We did however buy iconic little black dresses for Shashana and Ebony.
Saturday we took our train ride out into the country to a little village Puget-Theniers. We walked kilometres around the village and surrounding area and on our way back to the train station someone stopped to talk to us, and we assumed he was offering us a lift, but it was really quite amusing as we had not encountered anyone all day who spoke English, and this chap was no exception. With sighs and signs we managed to convey the message that we were happy to walk, and he drove off leaving us to finish our walk back to the station.
Suddenly it was Sunday the last day of our holiday which we spent going to Monaco (next story) and when we got back, we moved camp to the Ibis Airport Hotel to be in walking distance, to ensure we could catch our Air France flight to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris and then pick up our connecting flight to Singapore.
