Hi All...
So its been a while since the last update... in the last couple of weeks we arrived in Vancouver after Andys long drive from Calgary.... it was only actually 15hr not 21 as we didn' t go the scenic route... but it was long enough and we stopped off in a Motel and at some road side truck stops
along the way and met some interesting characters to say the least! - Andy did well - bruised bumbone and all!!
Vancouver Downtown was great.... everything is there ... the city,... the harbour... stanley park - which is like a forest on its own with beaches around the edge... you can go there and relax and completely forget you arein the city.
We did a lot of walking and site seeing... we cycled around stanley park , which is 10KM on its own and then the rest of Vancouver,..... did about 30K in total... muscles were screaming by the end of it ... but hey all good practice for the Inca Trail!!!
Caught a Seaplane over to Victoria on Vancouver Island..which was fun. - bit bizzare landing on the water.
Victoria is nice .. pretty... very english....think that is why everyone likes it so much, but really there wasn't that much to do in the town cheaply, unless we had the time to explore the rest of the island.
Everywhere advertised the castle to go and visit.. a really OLD castle.....19th Century!! - yep over 100 years old!!! - historic or what!!...well it was a big house... I think maybe in England we have been spoilt with our heritage....
We went Orca watching but to no avail which was a bit disappointing - saw eagles, porpoise (dark dolphins) , seals and sea lions etc so all was not lost.
Having walked and excerised our legs over the last two months we decided to give them a rest and work on our arms for a change and decided to go Sea Kayaking ...got within 3 meters of seals in there natural environment, much closer than the previous day whilst Orca watching.... In the afternoon we caught a ferry to Seattle USA - two countries in one day! (and hit the duty
free - woo-hoo!!!)
We are pleased to say that now we are on the east coast, and the weather is hoting up a bit!!! bring it on .. had enough of cold weather now and our thermals are falling apart !!....
