Seattle was.....Seattle... good skyline like in the titles of Frasier....nice international fountain... saw the famous PIke FIsh Market where they throw fish... stayed in a a very good hostel called the Green Tourtoise..free breakfast everyday, free email -when it worked.... free dinner 3 nights a week.. we like this kind of hostel... Went to our first Baseball game which was Seattle Mariners V Oakland Athletics. we won and witnessed two grand slam home runs which apparantly is not something that happens very often!? We have now successfully witnessed pretty much one of every american sport.
Had more time on our hands lately as things have slowed down a bit, thank god! - Elaine took the opportunity to introduce her card game (Sara, Soph and Anna will know exactly what game this is!!) However she can't remember the name of the game? (Help me if you can girls?) and was promptly
told this game was a 'croc of sh#t' anyway - which kinda stuck -so the game now has a 'new name' hence why it is word of the week... Elaine is most upset and we have now much to Taras delight had to resort to Black Jack now and many a nights have been spent with beer in one hand and cards in the other whilst recruiting new victims in the Hostel Lounges to witness Tara and Andy competitive edges!! (Sara/Soph/Anna - you rekon I'm bad .. you should seem them!!! must be the Irish blood, but something inside gets unleashed?!??)
Made some friends at the Green Tortoise hostel (Matt and Toby) who where also travelling down to San Francisco next and arranged to share a hire car and split the cost...(getting the hang of this lifestyle now!)
Again Elaine couldn't drive as not 25, and the lads only 19 and Tara completely useless; so Andy had do it all on his own again.. arhh welll..its only 12hr....!!!
Ummmm NO!! That was our first mistake.... Try 20hrs!!!!! we took the senic route... route 101.... (aparantly its route 5 that is 12 hrs.) Got to the roadside cafe thinking we had 5 hours to go... enquired out of interest and then fell over when we were told it was at least another 8 to 10 hours!!! - Andys eyes are still like saucers now!!! Again he did a very good job of driving while Tara was elected elk watch duty!! ....and Elaine slept and played connect four tornaments with Matt and Toby - (well somebody had to!!) Got to San Fran at 4 in the morning - ( we were the only car on
the entire Golden Gate Bridge which was pretty spectacular), so it had been pretty much dark since we entered the state of Califonia... and needn't to add we didn't see much scenery.
Now we are about to investigate San Francisco... will have buns like steel when we have finished walking up and down the hills... Inca Trail will be a walk in the park.
All up for the Spurs / Arsenal showdown tommorrow - we are now a gang of 2 gooners and 2 in the Tottenham camp with Elaine as our mascot (?)) - bring it on - there's pints riding on it!!!
Update: Andys bumbone is all good again.. although going cycling around San Fran tomorrow so ask after that!
Phrase of the week: Anyone for Croca Sh*t
