We are now in Calgary staying with Elaines Family - The home of the cowboys and cool runnings. We have been here for 10 days and have done so much... we hired a carso Andy has had his first taste of long distance driving and has done very well.. including dodging the odd Moose and Deer in the road! Been to Lake Louise, which was completely frozen over and we could walk on it...It was snowing so we donned our winter gear and had numerous snowball fights. We then visited to the Hot Springs in Banff.. which was a very bizzare experience.. 39 degree water, heated naturally by the mountain thermals, swimming outside with snow on the mountains around us!! We are now officially SNOWBOARDERS!!!! (except Tara who thinks it sucks as she busted her knee on the first day - no suprise there!) Elaine and Andy on the other hand have become Kick Arse green-runners within 3 days!! Can't show the video clips on this website, but will send them home.. trust us we are wicked!! We all enjoyed it so much we will have another go in New Zealand...providing Andy recovers from his bum bone injury and stops walking like a true cowboy!! We can all safely say we have muscles that we didn't know existed!! We met up with some friends of Elaine's Aunts and they took us to Ranchmans-a typical cowboy bar. Everyone wears Cowboy hats, checked shirts, cowboy boots and line dances on the dance floor... we learnt the two step. This is the bar where they have the cowboy brawl in the film coolrunnings. They then took us back to a house party and we got in at 6 in the morning once we could remember where we lived! We've been to watch Elaines cousin Ryan play Ice Hockey!- Fab game..could definatley get into this...Andy thinks he has found his new sport! Went to Calgary Olympic Park where they filmed cool runnings bobsleigh scenes and where Eddie the Eagle made his fame..- but it was shut... so we couldn't have a go. Visited the biggest Mall in the world, in the Capital City - Edmonton.(but didn't buy anything!! - see we are learning....) It has an ice rink, swimming pool, bungee jump...gallion, sealions, flamingos, casino, hotel, submarine rides, fake New Orleans street..etc etc.. you get the picture.. its basically a tardis! We are now leaving for Vancouver...a 21hr drive for Andy with a brusied bumbone!! - going to be interesting!!.... Quote of the week: Ouchhhhh! Ouchhhh! Ouchhhhh!
