Kia ora (we think)
Hope you are all well back at home.
We're preparing ourselves for a wee journey up to Kaikoura tomorrow and reflecting on the days experiences. There has been a lot to take in and lots of people to meet. We started our day at the Step Ahead Trust (after playing in the swing park) which was bursting at the seams with energy and enthusiasm. It was homely place where we were given a tasty lunch and interesting chat from staff and users. Some of the documents we were given to take away were really interesting.
Then briefly on to Lincoln Green, an occupational therapy run vocational project, in the grounds of Hillmorton Hospital. After this we enjoyed a visit to Te Whare Mauriora, a forensic open rehabilitation unit. Quite different to our rehab wards, with open doors and facilities where patients cook for themselves. The had really made an effort to make their bedrooms their own which was nice to see. Many of them had fond memories of Pam from her work there.
No one seems to know what art therapy is over here and have some funny ideas about what it might be. Adrienne is remaining cool, calm and collected (so far) despite the misunderstandings!
NZ word of the day: 'dagwood' - a sandwich that isnae cut and named after a cartoon character.
We'll be on the road tomorrow and will try to blog again if we find somewhere with wi-fi.
Hope you find time to play today too.
Bye!
