So we arrived in Huacachina on Thursday evening much to the relief of both of us after staying in Pisco! Huacachina is a small oasis about 5km from Ica where we got dropped off. As soon as we arrived we dropped off our bags and headed for something to eat with a friend, Annie whom we met on the coach.
Huacachina was amazing (as you can see by the pictures), although you really have to be there to appreciate it! Have never been anywhere ´desert like´ so was pretty incredible.
Once relaxed we booked a dune buggy tour which involved being driven up and down sand dunes at high speeds, which Lee (although he wouldn´t admit it) found quite scary! The buggy that we were being driven around in did however seem to be one of the tackiest looking out of all of the others! At one point, the driver forgot to put the handbreak on at the top of a dune, and Jess and Annie were still strapped in as it went rolling down the dune with no driver!! Fortunately he reacted quickly and jumped into the buggy before it crashed down to the bottom!!
That evening we sat around a camp fire drinking with other travellers who were staying at our hostel which was really fun and it ended off an enjoyable day well!- comments
