Early start again but great viewing ….. Leopard, a large herd of Elephants around a waterhole, a herd of buffalo moving across the plain, a Cheetah hunting Impala but failing and then returning to its 4 babies …… a loud sigh from all the ladies on the truck.
We crossed the border post into Swaziland without incident and arrived at our camp after dark …. The accommodation was in Rondavels (pretty cool) - As we left ours to visit Kim & Sam, there was an Elephant there, just next to Sam and Elke, standing within a few feet just the other side of a single strand wire fence …. Talk about close encounters.
The next morning was spent at the Swazi village - The Swazi are allowed to have as many wives as they can afford …… The King has about 40 (that's a lot of Mother-in-Laws) Sam nearly married two but men are not allowed to marry until they are 30, for women its 18 (seems like a good system)….. They have kept two on hold for Sam.
The afternoon provided a great game drive, we witnessed 3 Lions eating a kill, with 5 vultures hovering overhead. Then on the way back an Elephant standing on its back legs reaching high into a tree for food. Just when we thought it couldn't get better a Rhino appeared in the track in front of us, then 2 more…. Another 3 arrived looking for a fight and they began to rumble - Then one of the losing group, getting frustrated, spotted us and decided to charge! A Rhino can run at 45 KPH and we were reversing at about 25 KPH ……. Do the math. Luckily, he got bored or tired and we drove back to camp by another route with a strange scent wafting through the vehicle.
