Thursday we woke up late after a long night of dealing with Belia having a bug scare. She saw a few spiders before bed, which scared her enough to keep her waking up, thinking something was on her - no fun for her or us. Since I have gone through that fear myself I had to be understanding. Anyway, by morning she was back to herself again.
The weather was rainy when we started out so we brought our umbrellas.
We took 3 trains to The Palace of Versailles. This is the palace of all palaces in Europe. Many Kings and Queen's ruled from Versailles and each one added their own touches to the palace. Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI,s grande apartments and their gardens are all open to look at. It is an over-the-top level of luxury. We first walked through the apartments in a bit of a hurry because the kids were hungry. Finally we found a covered entranceway to the gardens and had our packed lunch there. We wanted to eat in the garden but it was raining too hard. With our energy levels up we went back through the apartments listening to our audio guide. The rain subsided in time for us to look around the perfectly manicured grounds. Fountains and endless paths with statues go on forever. We opted to walk instead of use a golf cart, but Tim and the kids did say they would have loved to explore the area on quads lol.
We came back to the campground and ordered pizza - cheese pizza here is made with very special French cheese. Delish!
