I had a lush sleep last night. It is not until you sleep in a half decent bed that you realise how crappy hostel beds are. We had breakfast included in the trip which was nice for a change, however any decent backpacker knows that if "included breakfast" can mean included dinner too. Mwhahahah! After sneaking my rolls out of the breakfast hall we set of down the road to Mount Kossi
We took the chairlift up the mountain and as we ascended it soon became clear why we needed to wrap up warm despite the temperature forcast to be 30oC, it was blooming freezing! That said as soon as we started walking we all soon warmed up… the guidethe views were amazing, I realise there is not much pint in me harping on about how nice they are because you can look at the photos, though im not sure that the photos will do the scenery justice. Even if your not a walker it is worth doing this hike just to say that you have used the highest loos in Australia ( not many people can say that.) The walk took us about 3 hours in total ( that time includes the half hour we all spent at the top taking photos and the 10minute lecture we got off the ranger for going off the path.) When we finished we all sat down in a small alpine hut for a good old cuppa tea.
We had a long drive that afternoon through the barry way. This is basically a dirt track road which is so thin and windy. It is defiantly one of the most scary roads I have ever been on. Its so dangerous that I don't think we ever got above 30km/hour. When we got to the other side we made our way to the cutest little fishing town called Lakes entrance. Mum you know you said you wanted to go to a nursing home in Australia well this is the place for you!It full of little old people in little old homes with finshing boats its so sweet. We ate lunch at D.Js fish and chip shop, the fish was so nice fresh from the ocean yummmmm! We then headed down to the beach which was again stunning to watch the sunset. It was so romantic, and one of those moments you just feel lucky to witness.
Tomorrow we head to Melbourne!
