Trailor on Tour
Today we got the little shuttle boat back to the mainland and then the bus back to the airport at Nadi, thinking we would be able to get a sea plane to the Yasewa Group. Sadly this was not to be and after much faffing we thought we may end up staying the night at the airport. We then opted to try and get to the Mamanuca Group, which is nearer to Nadi and our luck was in. We managed to book on a flight to Mana in the Mamanuca group with Sun Air.
Check in was hysterical - it turned out that we were the only 2 passengers and when the nice man asked me to get on the luggage scales I at first refused!! I thought he was having a laugh, but oh no, we both needed to be weighed holding our hand baggage. So off we went to our own "private jet"!! Not quite, but it was really fun. There were about 6 seats in this tiny little plane and the pilot led us out to the plane and then proceeded to give us a safety talk and welcome us on the flight. This was whilst looking over his shoulder from the front seat, where we could see all the gadgets and instruments, etc. The flight took 10 minutes and gave us a great view of the islands.
When we arrived in Mana, we realised that we had actually flown into a private airstrip belonging to a resort. We were planning on staying in a backpackers, but decided to have a bit of luxury and so checked in to the resort. It was nice enough - hot water, ceiling fan and cotton sheets.
We headed down to the buffet for dinner and were really disappointed at the quality of the food, considering how much it was costing us, although still cheap compared to the UK. After the buffet we watched the Fijian night - local dancing and singing. This was followed by the in-house band - enough to make your ears bleed, so needless to stay we went to bed early. S xx
