I went on one very long bus journey to Sydney via North Alburry and Canberra. I encountered horrid massive cockroaches and lot's of flies..eww I met up with Nat and visited Wina at her home in Sydenham, her place is pretty funky in a warehouse with NO WINDOWS! Goodness knows how anyone lives without windows, it would drive me potty.
Spent NYE in the cbd, saw the 9pm fireworks on the rocks by the harbour - pretty awesome atmosphere and soo busy. Then went a houseparty somewhere random and met more people, again pretty cool. Then saw the midnight fireworks from the Carrisbrooke hotel rooftop with the most perfect view of the bridge and harbour. It was amazing when it struck midnight to see the fireworks, it was certainly a scene I will never forget. Words can not express how amazing and surreal it was to be in Sydney watching what i've seen on tv every year. Just WOW! Then we went to a club but unfortunately nat and i were absolutley wrecked so we decided to go home to bed. I know home early on nye in sydney, not good. lol
Had a few good days with Wina, Sydney wasn't what i thought, it reminded me very much of London. I decided it wasn't a place I can see myself living for too long, soo hectic and just i dunno, it didn't have the vibe or buzz that melbourne has. Í think i'm just too attached to melbourne, but melb really is a truly magical place.
I walked from Tamarra beach to Bronte and Bondi Beach, Bondi beach is exactly what the books so, quite weird to be there on new years day too. Sooo hot!
We got a ferry over to cockatoo island, i loved this place. It used to be a number of things such as a prison, boarding school, shipyard plus other things. It's the one place i've seen that's untouched by tourism. Everything has been left exactly how the habitants left it pretty much. Which i think is great to see as you can really get a feel for the place. It makes you imagine what would have been without it being full on in your face on a money making scheme.
I then made the long journey back to melb on the mon via bus unfortunately with annoying 19 year olds in front of me. They truly annoyed me!
