Hello, my first blog.
WED 20th oct 2010
The reason i'm writing this now is because theres a typhoon issue 1 warning so outside is windy. I figured i'd be safe in an irish bar. lol I'm hoping it stays at that until my flight 2mo, i think if it gets to issue 5 upwards im b*****ed. lol theres no 2 or 4 though. Today I went to HongKong island on the MTR (I love this, its like the london tube but much better, you can walk for miles and its cooler). My idea was to go to the international methodist church, however after two hours of searching for it, missing the actual event i was going for i gave up. Hong Kong Island is massive, everywhere is full of steps, escalators, tall buildings and every shop you can think of. I went on the peak tram, stuffed in like a sardine (this is a common occurence daily). The view from the top is beautiful, you can actually see spaces between buildings and the harbour. I went to Hong kong park which has a massive area for caged birds and a lake (never neard of most the birds). I went the botonical gardens, a temple, a mosque and a few other places. Just walking around people watching is fun. On the way back to Kowloon i visted Mongkok, a university town, amazing vibrant place, except the toilets. (a hole in the floor which i had no choice but to use as i was desperate).
TUE 19th oct 2010
I went to Lantau Island to Ngong Ping village to walk the 85ft budda, visit Po Lin Monastery and walk down the guarded walkway amongst other things. this place is a spiritual paradise, i loved it. i spent several hours getting caught up in everything. I prayed with other people and was in blessed by a ranom lady (i think). Everything is so peaceful, its really nice. I also went Nam Cheong and Tung Chung. Tung chung has a massive american supermarket, not ur usual though as this had live large fish in tanks and live ducks and chicken. (serious). I've come to realise i will see my food live before eating it. In the eve i walked around Kowloon, its pretty safe and even more spectacular than dayime.
MON 18th oct 2010
I arrived after a 11hr 10 min flight with only a 45min delay (one of the doors wasn't shut so we couldn't fly until it was fixed). good start eh?! the flight from heathrow was uncomfortable and i was unfortunatley sat with a unfriendly snobby cow and her ever so good husband. She defo wore the trousers in that marriage. I'm Staying in Tai Wan Hotel in Chung King mansions. Awful, death trap, small and smelly. The whole of hong kong queues for the only lift to my hotel every day, and you can watch poeple squashed like sardines on tv. Spent the eve walking around and even visted star bucks, the best place for a good brew.
SUN 17th oct 2010
Today I said goodbye to my family, I cried but it was really hard to say bye. Luckily a lovely lady that reminded me of my Aunty maggie mothered me. She was telling me all about her trips she has planned. She will do 3 big ones before my birthday to celebrate her retirment. (mad eh!)
There's prob loads i've missed out but never mind, theres too much happening daily to remember. Going to drink up now and find a phone box to call home before going to bed. I have to get up at 5.30am tomorrow, it will kill me.
Tatty Bye for now, remember you can leave messages.
God bless, Muchas love,
Trace xxx
