10am is the new 6am, which means 7am is the new 3am and not much is open at 3am in Saigon; not much that's reputable, anyway!
We started our day at the world-famous Ben Thanh markets and survived the morning with our wallets intact by avoiding the 1,000 sarongs, t-shirts & caps. We enjoyed some local street eats before making our way down to the backpacker district to Rob's favourite smoothie bar.
As we were passing through the local park, we were approached by uni students wanting to ask us questions to help improve their engrish.
We made time for a foot massage before spending the afternoon relaxing with the locals. We picked 2 very small chairs to spend the aftenoon 'people watching' & haggling with street vendors as we made the most of our 'buy 10 get 10 free' beer offer with $1 stir fries.
We meet our guide and cycling companions tonight over dinner. We're headed out on the deadly treadlies for our orientation ride to the Cu Chi Tunnels tomorrow.
The weather is sticky and hot, so I think we'll be looking for some Pepsi and Coke this afternoon.
