I'ts been about 3 months since I last updated so I'll start where I left off. Next stop on our trip was Airlie beach for the Whitsundays.
So, we arrived in Airlie after a 13hr bus journey from Agnes water. There had been a road accident so the bus had to take a detour through country roads that were so bumpy, they nearly threw Rich of his seat.....much to my ammusement!
We had a few days to waste before our boat trip as there had been stormy weather, which looking back was probably a blessing as we ended up meeting people on our boat that we then went on to travel the rest of the way up the coast with and who I spent Christmas and New year with. I can't even remember what we did with our spare days in Airlie......they were that interesting!
So, we set off for Avatar....the name of our Trimaran. We got talking to an English girl called Jeny then once we were all on the boat the English all seemed to congregate and form a group pretty quickly. There was Tasha and Alex who are brother and Sister from Kingston and their friend also called Alex. Then Chris and his girlfriend....another Tasha.
We were given stinger suits to wear as it was coming into jelly fish season, they were extremely unflattering but at least we all looked like big blue condoms together! We were at the start of the Great Barrier reef and the snokelling was amazing! Saw so many cool fish and coral, so many different colours.
The next day we went to Whitehaven beach which is amazing, it's literally paradise. The whitest sand you've ever seen and it's so pure that it squeaks when you walk on it. We saw a sting ray in the water and decided that it would be a good idea to chase it! We went snorkelling again that afternoon. Me and Tash we really cool and used floaties to help us in the water! After the snokelling, Ritchie the deck hand took us over to a secluded beach, it was very pretty. There was a coconut on the beach that had already cracked open, it stunk so bad the we kicked it away from us....this didn't deter Alex from tasting it, he said it tasted salty...seeing as there were no plam trees around I'm guessing it had washed up from another island. Unsuprisingly, Alex got an infection on his toungue...nice! Our crew were all Kiwi's and the second night of our tour was the Rugby world cup......being on a boat we had to listen to it on the radio so we all crammed around with our goon. The kiwi's were obviously very pleased with the result.
We had a boat reunion the night the trip ended. I was so excited to hear that Nikki was also in Airlie beach, I really missed her since leaving Sydney! I also saw a guy called Dario who I'd met in Sydney. Nikki had met 2 Scotish girls Sam and Sarah in Gagju, the bush camp that me and Rich had also done. Alex, Alex and Tash had also met the girls in Brisbane, so when we all came together we realised that everyone knew each other.
