Playa Blanca is a beautiful Carribean beach on a nearby island that all the locals go to in their spare time. Our first stop though was at another island where there was an aquarium - but with a twist because the animals were all in nets, in the sea. It was a bit disappointing though, except for the dolphins which put on a good show! After we got a boat to Playa Blanca and were not at all disappointed, the beach was heaven! Fortunately, we had also made the decision to stay the night on the island and head back the next day. This turned out to be an excellent decision, because by the time we had had lunch, which was part of thr tour, we would only have had an hour and a half at the beach before returning to Cartagena. Instead, it meant that after an hour and a half the beach emptied and you had huge sections to yourself. The 5 of us chatted to some others, and spent the day generally chilling out, swimming, reading, sunbathing and sipping on drinks! In the evening everyone indulged in a few drinks and I walked the length of the beach. I went for a swim in the dark as well, which turned out to be amazing because of the bioluminesence in the water. I literally sparkled and everytime you moved you left a trail of silver like a shooting star behind you - seriously cool! Next morning I awoke when the sun came up, and after trying to get back to sleep went for an early morning swim instead. It was so calm and tranquil and I had the sea to myself, it was very relaxing. For the rest of the day I slept, and swam and read some more until it was time to get the afternoon boat back to Cartagena.
