Toms Intrepid Travels
Hello everybody, so here is another bit of lovely info on my trip up the east coast.
After leaving old Brissie, we had a nice three consecutive days on the Oz bus. Obviuosly we did stuff inbetween though. Such as stopping off for didgeridoo experiences, and scooter-rooing, and lawn bowls of all things! The scooter-rooing was excellent. Basically, jump on a scooter, race around at 70kmph (45mph) on the roads and look for kangaroos! Certainly satisfied my car withdrawal symptoms!
Our first overnight stop was at Hervey bay, which is a quiet town, but the gateway to Fraser Island, a backpacker haven. Unfortunately i didn't have time to do this trip aswell, so hence the one night here. The second overnight stop was at Kroombit, a cattle ranch in the middle of the outback! This was a pretty cool place, and we got to ride the bucking bronco for money too...i didn't win!
Then we reached Airlie beach, the gateway to the Whitsundays! Airlie itself was a funky happening little place...but the magic was out in the islands! These really were the most fantasticaly beautiful places...and whitehaven beach is what paradise was invented around! The snorkelling was incredible too, and has really whet my appetite for the diving in the Barrier Reef!
Love you all. T x
