It seems I will simply have to wait til another year to dive with sharks, as today they simply weren't playing. Up at 6am, we spent a good 5 hours at sea searching for them, and only found two. Of course, they didn't show up til we'd pulled the cage up, and were gone before we could get it in the water again!
It was at least a good fishing trip - the two sharks we saw included one that was on the end of our fishing line - catching all manner of things be they fish, eels covered in goo, a barracuda and a shark.
Back on dry land, fish filleted, we raced to catch up with Pedro and headed into Rangitukia.
It is very possible to ride a horse with one hand. And a hook, obviously. And the man who proved this seemed very keen to get us all galloping along the beach (check the insurance yet again) which was a lot of fun. The countryside here is endless, with fields, mountains, beaches et al just waiting to be explored, and it made for a fantastic trek (especially with an equine friend to do all the trekking).
Another round of hangi this evening, supplemented by the spoils of our 'shark dive'.
