We woke up for breakfast at 7:30, feeling a little worse for wear after only 3 hours sleep and a lot of beer. We smashed breakfast and got ready for the journey to Paradise island, where we would spend another night. On Cat Ba Island we disembarked and took a short bus ride across to the other side where we jumped onto another boat that took us towards our little tropical get-away. En route we stopped off for some rock climbing and cliff jumping. The out crop was about 15m high and a bit of a challenging climb. After jumping off the side of our big boat we were all pretty confident, but once at the top it was pretty scary. When jumping off you had a good few seconds of airtime, enough that your stomach falls but then you enter free fall where it doesn't feel so strange. A hard feeling to describe, but jumping off certainly took a bit of courage. After that we headed towards our island resort deep into the bay. The island was deep into the field of rocky outcrops, with vast pillars of rock rising up all around the island, making for some amazing views and a secluded feeling. The actual island area was only about 200m squared, with two huge pillars rising on the east and west sides and beaches on the north and south. The island was so small that you could throw an American football from one beach to another, over the accommodation building in the middle (completing this challenged granted a free beer). One of the sandy beaches had a volleyball net, with the court essentially being the whole beach area. Backing on to this was a sparsely wooded area that had hammocks stringed up between the small trees. The one big building was then in the middle before going on over to the other beach. It was a pretty cool place, but was so small and secluded after a few days you would come down with cabin fever. We chilled out in the hammocks, played some volleyball and went for a bit of a swim. A relaxing day after a action packed past week. We had a bit of a party in the evening, going on into the early hours. I crawled into bed at around 4 after a fair few beers and the island cocktails.
