Day 36
La Serena we got off a 16 hour bus from SPDA and ended up in La Serena, we walked up a little road and got to our hotel where we saw our hotel room. I immediately knew that someone was going to feel (justifiably) the wrath of Sarah as the room was far from nice, there were broken tiles on the floor, writing on the walls and it was generally a bit skanky. However, the woman came to clean and she did for a minute or two before she pointed out that the dirt wasnt the problem but the fact that it was old and seemed to think that justified the appearance of the room. No matter...it was a hotel room and after a bit of moaning we went to a nearby pub to watch Liverpool demolish Stoke. I had a pitcher and a bit to myself and was SO delighted with our win that I went and proudly found the nearest sports shop and picked up a Liverpool shirt. Excellent.
That evening we went to the supermarket bought a chicken, chips and some drinks and had a delightful dinner in our hotel room. La Serena was however a rather nice city and we had a walk around it was also located on the coast which meant on....
Day 37
We went for a walk along the beach. During this walk we saw some really interesting birds. One had a big red beak another had a long thin beak which I pointed out to Sarah. I felt a bit like Charles Darwin and quite inspired until: a tractor drove past us on the beach dragging a dead sea lion. From then on we walked up to a restaurant avoiding the dead sea lion trail left in the sand and got some lunch.
Apres-lunch we got a taxi back to the hotel and that evening I went for dinner with our Argentinian tour leader and watched his beloved Boca Juniors draw with another Argentine side. After this we had an early night and prepared ourselves for our last bus ride tooo Santiago.
