Day 38
We arrived in Santiago after a little bus journey from La Serena. Being used to bus journeys little has now come to mean a mere 7 hours. En route I decided to have a Chilean lunch which was highly recommended to us by the lonely planet guide book and that was a hotdog smothered in sauces. I ordered and then failed to find and sauces and ended up having the sort of thing youd be lucky to get at a football match. Still no matter, I was in a good mood until a girl sitting next to us threw up and made the coach really really smell. She may have been 7 but I really wanted to hit her as the South Americans didnt really do much cleaning up. Anyway. We get to Chile and to our hotel which mercifully was a good one as I feared Sarah could have knocked someone out if we had had a bad hotel again and settled in. We then found out we had the option of skiing the next day so went and got some stuff fitted.
Day 39
SKIING! We went skiing in the summer and it was really fun because it was so unexepected. We got up at a hideous time and went and got on a bus which took forever. There were problems with snow on the road which if we are driving to a ski resort Id have hoped the muppets might have considered this problem. Alas we got there and put our skis on and zipped off...until I realized tht I was incredibly worried and felt everyone was looking at me. I stood at the top and let about 100 people ahead of me much to Sarahs amusement as I simply couldnt remember what the hell to do. Finally after there was no one left to give way to I worked my way down like a giraffe in ice skates and met up with Sarah who seemed to be a proffesional skiier next to me. Nothing is more annoying than your girlfriend being better at something than you so I wont talk about my skills anymore but instead describe the resort which was pretty lovely, snow was good, lots of powder, restaurants all over the place etc. There were also some good runs and Im pleased to say I only fell over twice all day the first time I actually saw stars as I hit my head and the second time Sarah purposefully tripped me to make me look bad although she denies this... There was also a really fun long downhill track where you could just point and go which lead to races which I will point out I won, just because. That night we got back and fell into a coma.
Day 40
We had a look at Santiago but it was a Sunday and Chileans all become religious on Sundays so they can have the day off. We found a restaurant that was open which had really small chairs and looked like a scene from Trumpton Town. I then found out the my old neighbour from halls was staying at the same hotel as us which was strange so big shout out to Aanika...That night was our final night with our gang so we went out for dinner together and said long sad goodbyes to mask our delight at leaving the miserable northern/american/swiss so and so´s. Then went to bed.
