So we left Koh Chang on Saturday morning and had a bumpy journey back to Bnagkok where we stayed for just one night to stock up on some clothes shopping! Well its rude not to when its so cheap!
Our next stop was the party island of Koh Pha Ngan. It involved a bumper journey of 12 hours on a bus and then another 4 hours on a boat! By the time we got there we were well and truely cream crackered! The main reason for visiting this island was for the Full Moon Party which was last night (well technically it finished this morning!) As it was full moon nearly all the accomodation was full so it took us a while to find somewhere suitable...all the while lugging our heavy backpacks around in the sun on no sleep!
Anyway on the first night we crashed out pretty early even though 'warm up' parties were happening on the beach. How many parties does one beach need! On the second day we were pleased to just be able to chill out on the beach...yay! The first beach we have been to (well where it hasnt rained!) The beach is quite beautiful, well in the day, until the buckets come out along with the packs of disgustingly drunk travellers. Anyway we decided to join them that night and have a few lethal buckets ourselves. We bumped into a french couple, Gill and Lucile, that we spent some time with in Ko Chang and had a really fun night of speaking broken french and english to eachother. To be fair I dont think we 100% totally understood each other the whole time but the buckets made it easier. i think Tom also was a bit disappointed with my level of French...which is by the way A Level! But i think he thought i was fluent colloquialisms and all! Erm i was better than him can i say. he doesnt even have the decncy to speak slowly for them. he just rambles on in his drunken slur...you all know what i mean!
Anyway we had a lot of fun and rolled home at about 3.30am at which point i thought i was going to be sick. When the morning came it was like some one had been battering my head with a club the whole time i was asleep. Hangover was awful (Tom was fine!). Those buckets are like paraffin. The worst thing was we knew we had to go out again that evening but this time it was Full Moon and we had to stay awake until sunrise. we chilled on the beach again in the day then once we psyched ourselves up headed out for the evening. When i say psych ourselves up i mean beacause there are about 20,000 people, all gone on buckets, dancing on a beach! Its all a bit strange but we had lots of fun and hung out with some people we met on the bus over from Bangkok. Some of whom went home at 4am but i shan't mention any names! Tom and I were pretty sober most of the night as we wanted to last and it was quite funny people watching. We've come to the conclusion that most travellers are idiots!
So we made it to 6am, saw the sunrise which was beautiful and headed to bed at approx 6.10am...hardcore!
We are staying for another night and then we are heading to Koh Tao to do some snorkelling for a few days.
Hope everything is ok back home. Miss you all lots.
Love
Tom and Maria xxx
