The bus ride down to Bariloche was suprisingly comfortable and we didn´t get stuck in the strikes! Yay! They did play a medle of Ricky Martin videos though which were hilarious! As we got nearer to bariloche we could see why everyone raves about it all the time. the scenery was stunning with bright blue lakes surrounded by huge mountains. The town itself is so cute, it looks a lot like a ski resort town in swizerland would look like with houses made out of wooden logs.
Our hostel, Perikos, was one of the best we have stayed in eventhough we were in dorms it was really comfortable and clean. On the first night we sharde a room with a mad old woman who kept getting up in the middle of the night and leaving the room...very strange. She was evicted the next day for something or other!! Anyway we decided to hire a car to see the sights as we didn´t have long in the area. It was actually quite cheap and we both liked having the freedom we had when we had our campervan (we miss you Smooch!). We left early in the morning and headed to a place called San Martin de los Andes, a place where all the rich of Argentina come to play in the holidays. to get there we drove through an area called the 7 Lakes and saw some spectacular views. It was tough going though as 50KM of the drive was on gravel. We stopped to have our little picnic by a lake and once we got to San Martin we were disappointed as it really wasn´t as nice as Bariloche. We carried on our drive and the lanscape was everchanging, from lakes and mountains to desert. It really was a spectacular drive but by the end of it we were so tired! We had arranged to meet Sarah and Paz for dinner at a Mexican place. TBC...
