Tom & Anna's World Tour
Dear All,
We arrived in India on 1st December into Chennai. There was a cyclone just off the Bay of Bengal on the flight over so that caused a few delays, but nothing major. We spent 4 days in Chennai, just to get our bearings and decide where we were going to move onto next. Unfortunately it is the monsoon season on the south east coast (where Chennai is situated), so we didn't really get to do or see much. There was a huge thunderstorm on our second night with thunder that was so loud it shook the hostel! We managed to do a bit of sightseeing here, namely going to the Government museum, which had lots of cultural, historic and religious artefacts. A helpful guide showed us around and we learnt lots about India. We decided to move up to Goa which is on the west coast, we heard the weather was much better here which was our main motivation for going. Travelling around India isn't the most stress-free of things unfortunately and we had to get an overnight train to Hubli, stay overnight, then get a train to Vasco de Gama in Goa, which was delayed for various reasons along the way for about 3 hours in total, so we arrived quite late and very hungry! We decided to stay in a place called Anjuna because it is right next to a beach and we heard that there was a good flea market. We are still there now and havinga great time. the market was great, and we've hired a scooter so we can see the surrounding areas. We are off to Rajastan tomorrow, maybe via Mumbai (formerly Bombay). Look forward to seeing you all soon!
