The walk out to Shipsterns Bluff was a 3km ramble through forest and along some of the tallest cliffs on Tassie and possibly Australia. As you can see from the photos, we were a long way up! There was not a big swell on this particular day, but the shape of the wave was still discernible and it would indeed be extremely intimidating on a bigger sea. The bluff actually looks like the stern of a big tanker, hence the moniker- as it drops vertically into the sea. Just as you start the walk track, there is an owner builder house up on a property on the left. This enterprising individual was renting camping space on his land and had built a spa for the footsore walkers which anyone could use for a donation. He also made available his toilet- even when he was not at home which was the case this time. Oscar and I would like to thank this man very much!
