Waterhole workout!
Hello :)
So today we were back on our project work and the whole group was rearing to go! My group went to the waterhole first and enjoyed beautiful views of Mt Kilimanjaro on the way, we could even see the top! It was a great sight and something I was really happy to see before we leave!
We must have shifted a couple of tons of soil in a few days and the waterhole is looking great! While we were digging I got to use my first aid skills again... No matter how many times you tell these kids they still won't put on sunscreen, wear a hat or drink water... It's so silly! Anyway, Fiona was digging and Amanda accidentally got her hand!! I got my kit out and snapped the ice pack in half. It immediately went ice cold, I was amazed! For this reason it made tonight's blog :)
Anyway.... After 3 hours we returned to camp for lunch :) I did a bit of packing, had a nice hot footbath and chilled.
This afternoon I joined both groups together and we hit the waterhole hard! We worked really well as a team and had a great time singing and dancing along to my Cheesy Music playlist on my iPod! :)
We worked really hard today and when we left the hole was very nearly finished. We had a group picture and walked back to camp. This was until the last 100m when it was a sprint race to the shower!! We were minging!
I enjoyed a nice bucket shower and then finished off packing, sorted out the group tip and spent more time talking to Peter. He is 24 just like me, he works for Camps just like me, he loves his job just like me but he lives in his own house. Albeit a mud hut with no electric and only 2 rooms! This guy is great... we get on really well but couldn't be from much different backgrounds.
Anyway... after that we all enjoyed our evening meal of chicken and chapattis. I then thanked all the camp staff and led some reflection time for the kids about their time here.
Tomorrow we move to Camp Manyara which is beside Lake Manyara. There we will have 2 days of Safari so everyone is very very excited!
Time for sleep now as I'm up at 6:30am!
Tra x :)
